Since I can remember, stamp collecting is one of the hobbies first taught in school. It will stick to few but many will move on to other things like candy crush. I have yet to meet a serious adult collector and who knows one of my 1/4 is a collector. (insert lightning strike). Of course she takes great pleasure in ribbing me of not knowing it. And the next thing you know, Nite collects it as well. Well she is a casual collector, collecting because she don't have the heart to throw the stamps away. Last my god daughter collects it but she is 10 so that's the age teachers taught you about stamp collecting. Why is everyone around me collecting stamps now?
All these awareness and suddenly I saw these huge pile of cutoff envelopes in the mail room and light bulb! Asked my mail room lady and apparently she thinks like Nite but she doesn't collect stamps. So we made up an arrangement. I will take all her stamps since I have 3 hungry collectors.
While I was sorting through the pile, there are actually a high number of un-stamped stamps. I don't know about you but I always thought a stamp is worth more if it was stamped thus I sorted them out and 'clean' them.
I should say that my teacher will be proud that I still remembered how to do it. You just soaked them in water and when the stamp disengage from the envelope you dry them.
Surprisingly some stamps refuse to be detached. I have to forcefully split them. Once dried and ready for recycle, I offered them to the mail lady but she said hardly anyone send posts anymore and give me that look. What the....
I shouldn't complain, these pile of stamps sponsored my greeting cards to my friends and family far away. I told uncle if he need stamps, just ask me. He said, only Asians do that. Apparently he also keeps the unused stamps. Go figure. HA HA HA! I even bought a stamp album to sort out stamps by value.
This hobby must not have been popular in Koala Land as you can't find any stamp albums here. I had to buy it from Bolehland and Murphy Law dictates when you want something, you can't find it. Walk all over hometown and all the stamp albums are sold out! In the end, had this brilliant idea to check the local stationary shop. Don't know if I am more surprise to see the old couple still alive and manning it or they have stamp albums. They claimed it sells like hot cakes lately.
Had some celebrity been collecting stamps lately?
